My name is Ma Lian. Ma is my family name, means horse, while Lian is my given name, means temper in fire.

I have been in IT industry for 9 years.

Graduated from Xi’an JiaoTong University in 2004, one of the top universities in China then, My major was Mechanical Engineering, and mastered C language. In the following 2 years, among other things, I taught myself HTML/PHP/MySQL languages, which helped me starting my IT careers.

Since 2007, JavaScript became increasingly popular together with Pototype.js/jQuery/ExtJS, and of course HTML/CSS/JavaScript + PHP/MySQL was my favorite combination.

Since 2008, I started outsourcing experience in a software outsourcing company. 4 years later, I continued working in software outsourcing industry but as individual.

Since 2009, I mainly focused on GIS projects, most of which are OpenLayers/Leafletjs + GeoServer + PostgreSQL. Meanwhile in the field of PHP, I mastered plugin development for Joomla and WordPress.

Since 2012, I became individual freelancer. More free time made me absorb new knowledge eagerly. Below is a list of my knowledge points, in order of mastery and use frequency:

• Git/GitHub – you cannot live without it
• Nodejs + npm – this has been totally a new ecosystem! Grunt + Bower + Yeoman is my favorite.
• AngularJS – this has been my love for JavaScript SPA(Single Page Application).
• AWS – EC2/S3/DynamoDB/BeanStalk/SES etc.
• PhoneGap/Cordova – this make it possible for me to develop on mobile apps!
• jQuery Mobile
• Bootstrap

• Bash scripts – you cannot breath without it in Linux world

• D3js – It is amazing for some special effects!
• Rails – I like it too
• Sencha Touch
• Java on Android
